Malaysia and Indonesia will join forces to make an ASEAN Car

There are Mercedes Benz, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. But these car makes are luxurious and won't be easy for most people to obtain. Then there are Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc. These makes are also popular. Added to their perks, they're not that expensive.

But how about an ASEAN car? A car our region can also parade with other car makes in the world? No you're kidding. I am most of the time but not this time, however. There really is a plan to make an ASEAN car. In fact, newly-appointed Indonesian President Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, as well as Malaysian Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, are currently on the talks of pursuing the idea mooted by the latter.

These two ASEAN countries will soon unite forces in the automotive industry as they create an ASEAN car.

When this happens, National car maker, Proton Holdings Bhd, is expected to be involved in the project.

According to Malaysian Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, "A feasibility study of a possible joint production of the Asean car by Malaysia and Indonesia will be undertaken and it (the idea) was welcomed by President Jokowi who wants the idea to be pursued further."

"This means Proton and Indonesia will launch the Asean car as a viable project after in-depth studies," he told Malaysian journalists on Monday at the end of his two-day visit to the Indonesian capital to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Jokowi", Malaysian Prime Minister added.

Now, do I still sound that I'm joking?
